Visit Portovenere, an ancient village rich in history, means discovering one of the most fascinating and beautiful corners of Liguria. For years, together with the park of the well-known Cinque Terre and the islands: Palmaria, Tino and Tinetto, the town of Portovenere has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Portovenere, where the Ristorante Portivene is located, is characterized by the typical fishermen's houses, built in rows with typical Ligurian colors that overlook the sea from which the various ferry embarkations are located in order to visit the Cinque Terre or other areas of Liguria.
Well-known and a destination for tourists is the famous church of San Pietro, built in the 12th century on a cliff, where perhaps there was once a temple dedicated to Venus from which the town took its name and is now known worldwide, thanks to its unique and enchanting landscape.
The Cinque Terre are ancient fishing villages located along the rugged Ligurian coast. Each of these villages is unique and characterized by old colorful houses and vineyards carved out of the surrounding steep terraces. Four of them have their own harbors, where there are fishermen's boats and several trattorias where you can enjoy local specialties.
In the province of La Spezia, on the Levante Riviera, one of the most prominent centers is Lerici - a true pearl. The town, spread out on the coast of the Golfo dei Poeti creating evocative and enchanting landscapes, which already inspired writers such as Lord Byron, and even earlier it was a destination for Dante, Petrarch and Boccaccio.
The city of Sarzana, in the province of La Spezia, is situated on the east side of the Magra River and to this day is a modern center of crafts, tourism and agriculture. It is surrounded by the almost completely intact ancient city walls (15th century) that lend charm to a place so rich in history. It was always growing and was dominated over the centuries by different noble families who over the years have modified the style of the town.
